It is with heavy hearts that we share news of Howard’s death in June 2024.
Howard was a brave and decent man – and a man of many talents: a sailor, a beekeeper and Trustee of the British Beekeepers’ Association (BBKA), a distinguished businessman who had worked all over the world, and churchwarden for his local church in Amersham. Howard was a man who cared deeply and always wanted to help; most recently, we were amazed (though we shouldn’t have been surprised!) to learn that Howard was driving humanitarian aid vans to Ukraine to support the people in need.
Howard joined the FoFC Board of Trustees in 2010, and brought his vast expertise, passion and excellent sense of humour to all our meetings. As a member of our Investment Sub-Committee, he rigorously interrogated our performance, accounts and always pushed us to be more ambitious.
Howard loved the FoFC dearly, and was always so supportive and invested in our work. He not only served on the board and sub-committee, but also volunteered his time in the office to help with administration. He always wanted to do more.
Howard’s death in June has come as a shock to us all. We last saw Howard in March, when he hosted our end-of-year Board meeting at his club in London. It was such a treat for us all to be in such salubrious surroundings and to have coffee brought to us at regular intervals. Howard was clearly very proud to have us all there.
Howard was a dear, loyal and valued colleague. Our deepest sympathies are with Sally, his wife, and his family.
Rest in Peace.
